Soon after Navision Financials 2.50 was released, the new Navision Manufacturing was also released. This was the first "official" manufacturing package available for Navision.
Partners and customers had requested this functionality for years. In Navision's "motherland" of Denmark there was already several partners with very good manufacturing functionality. One of them, the package made by Danish PCA A/S (not PC&C) had been translated and localized by New York Navision partner BMI in 1998. But soon after the announcement of this becoming as a part of Navision, then all further sales of this add-on in the US dries out. Customers what the official product.
This first release was not what partners and customers had expected. Not only was it initial very buggy, and in many ways didn't work as expected of an MRP system.
But most important, Navision Manufacturing was not release as part of standard Navision Financials, but as a separate Navision installation. The way it was done, made it almost impossible to implement for an existing customer, without doing a re-implementation. And version 2.5 was only available for the US market.
The way continued with Navision Manufacturing 2.60, where the Navision Advanced Distribution solution was released in the same fashion.
In 2001 with Navision Attain 3.00 Manufacturing and Advanced Distribution became integrated modules and not separate solutions (Manufacturing and Warehouse Management).
The first release based on the US/NA version of Navision Financials 2.50.
Also called Navision Financials 2.60M was Navision Financials 2.60 with the Manufacturing module integrated. It basically worked, but was generally too slow to work for the companies it was designed for, so was not too successful. It did though give a good test base for the future version to come.
