Version 5.0 was released by Microsoft on March 31st, 2007. It was the first new version since Navision 4.0, except for the service packs, since 2004. It was to be the last "true" classic versions, without the RTC user interface.
There were many new and improved features in NAV 5.0.

But mostly Microsoft focused on the new and improved Outlook 2007 integration.
It was also the first time their "Microsoft Dynamics Customer Model". The model which would be used for demo's and user stories.
In March 2008 Microsoft released NAV 5.0 SP1.
It marked an end to what used to be known as SIFT for Sum Index Fields Technology, which had followed Navision from the native database and Navigator 2.00 into SQL. Instead the database uses indexed views.
Microsoft mainstream support of version 5.0x stopped in April 2012.
