Microsoft Dynamics Entrepreneur Solutions was the first attempt made in 2007 to create a version of Dynamics NAV dedicated the SMB market.
Microsoft had been greatly impressed by the sales number achieved by the Microsoft Dynamics C5 in the Danish market. They knew that the foundation of C5 was not strong enough for the global market, but Navision was.
Entrepreneur was a system with no upgrade path, neither to it or from it. It was only released the Netherlands, Spain and Germany (no sources- can anyone confirm this=).
In many ways then Entrepreneur showed how Microsoft was thinking at that time. Traditionally in NAV you always opened the card forum, and then the list with F5 from the card form. In Entrepreneur it was a list and then the card, just like it is now. There was many great "design" examples on how to use NAV a little different than how we were used to. It used a specific set of "NAV Entrepreneur GUI guidelines".
Entrepreneur was created based upon Dynamics NAV 5.0. It was never upgraded to the role-tailored client and died a quite dead.
But it surely wasn't forgotten. In 2013 Microsoft launched Microsoft Dynamics C5 2014, a C5 version based on NAV for the Danish market. But this time exactly same objects as the standard NAV, just a different license.
