We have a 4 minute delay in the posting of invoices and other documents. Collegues tried to optimize the Database, but it did not work.
4 minutes delay is abnormal and very high.
Which version of NAV are you using? What is database size, is it on native or sql server?
Are there any customization in Invoice related objects?
Is it taking that long on every machine, even on server or its happening only on one machine?
It´s Nav 4.0 sp3, the Database is SQL server.
I without acces to the DB right now, so for size I cant tell you that much. I think the customization of the objects has been minor or inexistent.
I will only be able to give more information later on.
My main issue is more is is there any possiblity of being a functional issue. The client says it has to be functional...
Meanwhile you may read this: http://dynamicsuser.net/forums/p/26500/143108.aspx
Its about 3.7+SQL2005, but nevertheless there are some ideas - about Dims, Analysis Vievs etc... Also is this Batch Posting (Batch of Documents and/or HUGE Journals) or even single invoice post performs for ages? What other concurrent processes goes on? (e.g. I've seen that while someone posts FA Deprec Journal with 10K lines, other accountants can take a coffee break...)
Many Thanks for the Link Modris!
It is a single invoice, they dont use post invoices in batches.
As I said earlier, I except more information later on in the day.
Unlike what I said the optimization solved most of the issue. Now there is only, one user with the delay.
"Funny thing" is the only only happens to a user, in a PC, in a specific company.
In another computer the same user can post invoices, I find it strange being hardware if the same user, can post invoices in other companys in the same PC.
"Funny things" happen...
There was a situation, for connecting a laptop to network, someone put an acient 10Mb 4-port switch - there wasn't spare connection in wall. He did his job, took laptop away, and LEFT the switch under the table...
Poor sysadmin couldn't understand, why this one PC has bad network performance - he couldn't ever imagine that this 10Mb switch happilly sits there under the table
Many thanks Madris
It can be so many different things, and I am very new to Nav.
We passed it over to the systems department....
