What many people already assumed is confirmed by Microsoft: The release date for Microsoft Dynamics NAV 5.1 has been changed to Q4 CY2008.
The development team needs more time to maintain quality, simplicity and performance as we are used too of Microsoft Dynamics NAV.
Also, it's officially announced that there is going to be a 5.0 SP1, scheduled in the first wave of countries in Q1 CY2008.
The key points in a Dynamics NAV environment (for me) is simplicity and quality. If it becomes all of a sudden too complicated to upgrade/develop/change business rules/whatever ... Then I would prefer NOT to have a new sexy release of NAV. Therefore, let's embrace this decision by thinking .. no .. knowing that this new release isn't going to be to though nut to crack (upgrade difficulties, new architechture, ...), but is going to maintain simplicity in all its glory :).
A few key changes:
If you have other questions, let me try to answer them.
Again, for all of you NAV addicts ... I know many people are disappointed, but I also know that Microsoft does this for the best ... . This IS the right decision. Better no product than a product full of bugs!

hi just a little question for you....can you tell me what does mean h1 cy2008?...sorry may for the ot...thanks a lot bye
We were close to rolloing out our fundraising group on V4 when our partner tested and upgraded us to V5. We are now ready to cancel the rollout because of poor performance. MS said they are working on the speed issue but could not give me a date.
Well we need W1, then we need Localizations, then we need six months before we see the Upgrade Took kits, so...
Lets get back to selling 5.00
I am not betting on anything, but I am not expecting anything in 2008.
Well ... the release date is always W1, so I guess any localized version will be in 2009...
Version 6.0 it’s almost a completed redesign of Navision. So it’s natural that MS is trying to achieve a solid product and it takes time.
Erik I also bet in 2009...
Not really a surprise. But it's "nice" to see it on writting. Changing the version to 6.0 really does make sense.
But who want to bet that we don't see it until 2009?
