  • Microsoft Partner Network: New Certifications needed for partners!

    waldo
    waldo
It's time for a "heads-up" for all partners among us. Microsoft is changing the certification for partners. If you're a certified partner, you probably are "Microsoft Certified" or "Microsoft Gold Certified". In fact, there is a bigger chance you're "Microsoft Gold Certified" as 70% from all certified partners, are GOLD. Well, starting from from October, this certification is going to change . In the future (as of October 2010) we (as NAV partners) will have to certify ourselves all over. I will be talking about what exams are necessary for the different certification-possibilities, not…

  • Select Role when logging into NAV 2009 RTC

    waldo
    waldo
Doing support on NAV 2009 RTC is a challenge. First of all, you've got the challenge of the customization-part (everyone can customize their pages to their own needs) .. and second, you've got the challenge of supporting the different roles: when someone from the warehouse has got a problem, you want to investigate that problem "in his role". The second issue, I would like to address today in this blogpost. In a way, we need to be able to select a role in a flexible way . First attempt .. I blogged about the use of CodeGenius .. actually, a way to use the shortcuts. And remember, this way…

  • Platform updates overview - 3.70.B - NAV2009 SP1 (UPDATED 4)

    waldo
    waldo
Finally a new update of the Platform updates.. . I must say, they make it complicated. In the old days, I was using the knowledge base RSS feeds as my only resource, but now, I use the "released platform hotfixes"-page on partnersource as well .. and I have to, because they seem to be publishing just a fraction of the updates on the knowledge base. On top of that .. they really make a mess of it (sorry to say, but they are...). Build numbers are mixed up, re-using buildnumbers and such.. . I order them, and add them between my own numbers .. I must do that to be able to give you a decent list…

  • Dynamics NAV 2009 Application Test Toolset R2

    waldo
    waldo
As I already announced on my blog , Microsoft was working on a next version of the Application Test Toolset ... . There was already a R1, but it wasn't really sufficient. Now, in this release ( here you can read all about it) you've got a set of 226 application tests .. In a framework that makes the test-codeunits use-able. here's the list from the Team Blog: 226 application tests (covering areas such as service management, sales, purchasing, inventory management, jobs, and finance) Application-specific test libraries (e.g., creation functions) Generic test libraries (e.g., assertions…

  • NAV 2009 SP1 Action Categories

    waldo
    waldo
Anyone worked with Action Categories yet? This "feature" was enhanced in SP1, but is not a very well known feature, so it seems. So it's worth to write a blog post about it. Hopefully this time nobody else wrote about it, because people might start thinking that I'm just copying stuff (inside joke). First of all: what is an Action Category? Well, let's take for example the Customer List (Page 22). The action categories on this page are "New", "Process" and "Report", which are the three default action categories on each page. Now, it IS possible to change AND add action categories.…
