  • Power BI Desktop December 2018 Feature Summary

    Steven Renders
    Steven Renders
December is a huge month for us in terms of accessibility. With this release, the entire product supports screen readers, keyboard navigation and high contrast for both report consumption and report creation. We are also previewing one of the most asked for features related to Q&A, support for live connect! We also have lots of smaller improvements across the product, such as customizable tooltips for buttons and a larger DAX formula bar. https://powerbi.microsoft.com/en-us/blog/power-bi-desktop-december-2018-feature-summary/ Here’s the complete list of December updates: Reporting Smart…

  • What is Azure Data Studio?

    Steven Renders
    Steven Renders
Some time ago I mentioned a brand new product: SQL Operations Studio. Its feature set was small and aimed mainly at the developer persona. Now, recently, SQL Operations Studio was rebranded as Azure Data Studio. Although they’re effectively the same thing currently, you do need to install Azure Data Studio separately from your existing sqlops install. You can install the new Azure Data Studio after downloading it from here: https://aka.ms/getazuredatastudio . The docs also include a helpful section,  Move User Settings , that will help you migrate any custom settings you don’t want to lose from…

    Steven Renders
The new modeling view for Power BI Desktop is here! See the announcement in the November Power BI Desktop feature summary . • ZoomIt by Mark Russinovich

Almost every time I deliver a training, presentation, webinar,… someone always asks me, what is this magic you use to zoom in and out and annotate? ZoomIt runs unobtrusively in the tray and activates with customizable hotkeys to zoom in on an area of the screen, move around while zoomed, and draw on the zoomed image. Download it here! or Run now from Sysinternals Live . ZoomIt works on all versions of Windows and you can…
