  • NAV 2009 SP1 - Shift F12 is back?

    Marq
    Marq
NAV 2009 SP1 has a new shortcut which will be frequently used. Shift F12. What does it do? No, they have not implemented the object designer in the Role Tailored Client. Shift F12 brings you back to your role center page. Perfect! Yes! Happy! But... Why Shift F12 instead of F12? I know F12 goes back to the 'menusuite' but personaly I would have prefered F12 for the Role Center page and Shift F12 for the menusuite. Anyway. It is a great new feature.

  • NAV 2009 SP1 - ASSERTERROR function

    Marq
    Marq
With NAV2009 SP1, a new function is shipped. ASSERTERROR. It is implemented to support testing codeunits like described in Kine's blog. However, it might also be usefull for errortesting in NAS / Job Scheduler processes. You can run a codeunit and write code to handle different error messages. More information about the function and syntax: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee414211.aspx PS: Does anyone know there it is in the F5 symbol menu?

  • NAV 2009 SP1 - Matrix fun

    Marq
    Marq
NAV 2009 has redesigned the matrix pages. What happened is that they went back to a 'single' page. The used technology is a page with subpage. The page is where the filters are set, and the subpage is what we used to call the matrix control. Unfortunately it is not what used to be a matrix. It is a 'normal' list page. Rumours say that the matrix control was discontinued because of its complexity. People who are in the channel longer know that the matrix control was never really...

  • NAV 2009 SP1 feature - Error List

    Marq
    Marq
While preparing the NAV 2009 SP1 training for developers in The Netherlands I came accross this new feature. If you compile one or multiple objects in this version you will get an error list like in real dev. environments. Another feature that is added is warnings. Until this release NAV only had compile errors. This version warns you if you implement stuff that won't work in the service tier. Example If you import the objects from my contribution to the good old Christmas Contest on Mibuso...

  • Hotcopy

    Marq
    Marq
For a customer running on a Native database I was looking for some information about the good old Hotcopy. Hotcopy is a small tool that allows you to make a copy of your NAV database while it is active and running. The 'tool' is an executable in the server folder called hotcopy.exe. These are the hotcopy parameters hotcopy source=databasefile1 (databasefile2…databasefile16) destination="backup directory1" ("backup directory2"…"backup directory16...
