Drop ship

We are a wholesaler.  We receive orders from Customer A.    Customer A is now asking if we can Drop ship to their Customer.  Customer B.    How do we set this transaction up in GP so we Can Ship to Customer B but Invoice Customer A?

For background, we have been a wholesaler using GP for almost 10 years and currently have about 15000 customers for 20m in sales.  Offering drop shipping is a huge endeavor logistically so I'm just trying to get as much information as I can.    Thanks.

  • Customer B is not your customer so are you setting up this customer in your GP?

Did you try using National Account?

  • In reply to almas:

I don't think we would want to set up customer B in GP since the only information we need from them is their address to send their shipment.  Is there something in GP that allows us to enter an order (for a current customer) but drop ship it to "another" name and address they specify in their order?

Your second Question about using a National Account - I've never used or quite understand how this works in GP, so I'm unclear about how that would help.  However - I'm interested in knowing if this is something that could move us along.

If your only objective is to show address of customer B, then you can simply setup multiple ship to addresses for the customer A, have address detail of customer B and using it on Ship To Add field of sales order.

So your saying just have separate Bill to and ship to addresses?  Is there a limit to the ship to addresses?  All of this seems a little too easy and not sure if we are missing anything.   But - just because its easy doesn't mean it wont work, right!  Thank you very much for your help - if you think there is a step missing, I'd love to hear.  Thanks again!

  • In reply to Kelly:

no limit to the ship to /bill to addresses. To know if we are missing anything or not I need to know more about your process, work step. :) else God knows well.

For now - I think this has been great information and I appreciate your help.  I have your contact information - and if we need consulting work as we make this transition, I'd love to reach out to you.  Thank again. Kelly

  • In reply to Kelly:

    Big Smile Sure, Thanks.
