Import Errors

Hi guys, I saw a similar question a few posts down, but it looked like spam took over so I decided to make a new one.  

I recently set up a new data map to import some records, but I'm getting a "text entered exceeds the maximum length" error. The problem is that there is no column heading or column value listed, and every row is failing.  I have checked the length of all of the attributes, and didn't find any problems.  Does anyone have any idea what could be going on?

  • Have you ever recieved the following error when trying to synchronize an Email from Outlook to Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0: The text entered exceeds the maximum length. ? You can always enable error tracing by modifying the TraceEnabled DWORD to 1 within the MSCRM registry key. However, to save yourself time, more times than not a simple modification to an attribute within the Email entity will resolve the problem.

    1. Navigate to the Settings module.
    2. Click on Customizations.
    3. Open the Email entity.
    4. Click on Attributes.
    5. Open messageid.
    6. The default setting for the Maximum Length should be 100. Change this value to 200.
    7. Click Save and Close.
    8. Click ActionsPublish.

    **In some cases increasing the value to 200 is not sufficent. Feel free to increase to 250 in these cases.

    In MSCRM 4.0 you may get the following error when trying to track an email:

    The text entered exceeds the maximum length

    This is caused because the message ID is too long for the field, has nothing to do with the email itself (message is confusing cause it says text entered, but you not actually entering it). To solve it do the following:

    ·      Open the IE CRM Client.

    ·      Open Settings

    ·      Select Customisation from the left menu and open the E-Mail  entity.

    ·      Open Attributes and Open the messageid attribute

    ·      You should see a text box named Maximum Length with the value 100 in it. Increase this value to 200.

    ·      Click Save and Close

    ·      Click Save and Close

    ·      Click More Actions à Publish All Customisations

    ·      Click Start Menu à Run and type iisreset click Run

    If you are using the Microsoft Dynamics CRM for Outlook Client via Microsoft CRM 4.0 On Premise or CRM Online, you may encounter the following error message when promoting/tracking an Outlook e-mail message with CRM:

     

    "The text entered exceeds the maximum length"

     

     

    This problem occurs because the CRM E-mail entity's messageid attribute "Maximum Length" default value of 100 is not enough:

     

     

    To resolve this issue, update the CRM E-mail entity's messageid attribute "Maximum Length" to 200:

     

    1.     CRM Client >> Settings >> Customization >> Customize Entities >> E-mail >> Attributes >> messageid

    2.     Update the Maximum Length field from 100 (default) to 200 

    3.     Save and Publish the E-mail entity
