Microsoft has announced the next major Dynamics 365 update will enter general availability from 5 April 2019.
A release guide will be published on 21st January detailing what's new in D365 and the Microsoft Power platform.
From 1st February, admins will be able to test the new version and selected features by opting in to a release preview.
The new D365 version is expected to be v10 Online.
By using a sandbox instance, admins will have an early opportunity to test features before they are deployed to production sites in April.
The preview will be available across Customer Engagement apps.
The precise list of features and updates to be included in the preview will be confirmed when the release notes are published in January.
Starting from 1 February, admins will be able to opt-in for the April '19 preview within the Power platform admin centre.
It is recommended that Dynamics admins enable the preview for their non-production environments. These can be reset and restored as new features are tested without impacting production instances.
Throughout the preview, any issues can be reported directly to Microsoft by raising a support case, or via its community forum.
From 5th April, Microsoft will enable the April '19 new features across its customer base on a region-by-region basis.
Applying the April '19 update to production instances can be scheduled outside business hours. Alternatively, the update will automatically be applied by Microsoft.
By the end of April, all production instances will be switched on to receive the update. As a result, this will see all D365 Online customers on the latest version, as Microsoft has previously announced.
