Attain 3.7 Release date?

We're currently running Navision Financials & Analyst 2.6 and are looking to transition to Attain. How close down the pipe is Attain 3.7, as I don't want to start our conversion plans to 3.6 if 3.7 will be out in the next 6-9 months.

Thanks.
  • Hi,
actually 3.70 is about to be released within the next weeks, depending on the localization issues for each country. For the US, Microsoft announced the official release for the 15th of july, so it might be worth it to wait, especially regarding the list of improvements that have been realized. More info in this topic:http://www.navision.net/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=6535

    Saludos
    Nils
  • Thanks. Any idea on a link to the actual press release from Microsoft?
  • If you are using W1(World Wide) version, its actually released? But if there's a localized Russian version which is used, you may need to wait as per your NTR plans.

    We're in the USA.
  • Rouse,

I've got a client in the same boat as you. They want to be on the most current version, but we are looking at only putting them on 3.6. Our reasoning is primarily due to the fact that realistically, 3.7 is still a brand new release...even if it is primarily bug fixes...and no one wants to be a "beta site" for a new product. Unless you plan on beginning the implementation a few months after the release...when a good many of the release issues will have been fixed, I wouldn't consider jumping straight into it.
  • Sorry Bill, but I would strongly disagree with you on this one.

Firstly, 3.70 does not have any significant new functionality which requires a bedding in period (i.e. lots of hot fixes!!)

Secondly, 3.70 fixes so many problems that I would not recommend anyone implementing 3.60. The issues fixed iin 3.70 range from those dating way back to version 2.xx to things that materialised in 3.60 - these fixes can relate to small issues (but extremely irritating) or rather more significant problems (especially relating to warehouse management).

In summary, I would recommend that 3.70 is implemented in any site (for upgrades and new implementations) - this is on the back our experience in the last few months
  • If it were 6 months until the next release I'd deploy whatever the current version is, but when 3.7 is already Gold/RTM it's better for me to just wait for 3.7.

This sounds kinda like people still "planning" on deploying Windows 2000 Server, when Server 2003 is already shipping. If a problem ships with bugs, then we submit them to MS for hot fixes, just like any other software.
