ZUP Files and personal settings

We are using Navision ver 4.0 SP2 at our company. Always when our supplier of Navision applies an update, we loose our personal settings and sequence of columns in the browses. These settings are saved at ZUP files. Is it somehow possible to keep the personal settings of every user even if the update...

Zup file

Ok, after succesfull migration from SQL 2000 to SQL 2005 server and of cousre using Nav5 client, but database was restored from Nav 3.7 . Company does not want to use new one, because they would lose all the settings, ZUP file. Or I am getting crazy or has any one idea what the heck to do in this case...

Inspired by another post here one thing came to my mind. One thing that has been a big issue for many years for many of my users. You know the issue: You have a list form where you have a lot of fields which have been set to Visible=No, so that only the users who actually needs the field pulls them into...

In Navision Application Shortcut you can define parameters. Has a anfinnur wrote, add a parameter to Navision executable do define ZUP path.

So if i right click on fin.exe, select properties and then on the general tab would i specify where it states only 'fin.exe' the path to the Zup file? is that what you mean? Thanks for the information so far and my apologies for the slight lack of understanding on my part :)

Try start NAV as "Fin.Exe Id=C:\SomeFolderName\UserId.Zup, ..." where "SomeFolderName" could be NAV's Client-folder and "UserId" the user's - well - ID...

Thanks for the reply Erik, I have already checked to see if they are running more than one session and that's not the case, unfortunately :) Apologies for my lack of understanding - but what do you mean by set the path to the zup files when starting? do you mean instead of the fdb file? Thanks again

Zup File Changes

I am working with a customer who has recently upgraded from a 3.60 NAV database to Version 4 SP3. I am finding that some users are having intermittent problems with their user settings, columns etc. In some cases, mid session, users are finding that their personally configured settings are reverting...
