  • Restricting data access via Ax Reporting

I am very new to X++ and Dynamics Reporting and need to find a way of obtaining the users login details and then using those details to restrict the data that the reports show by relating the users name to Reps Code. I am looking for maximum flexibility so one report serves all. Hope you can assist.

  • Re: Beginner's guide to NAV roles and security?

Personally I found the tool great for finding that "lost" object, so you could see all objects bing used when a user had an error message. But I never liked using it to crate roles, because then the roles became too specific. Also you never test every possible option, so you still miss one...

Thanks for the great tip, we are looking into this. I want to start peering at that document tomorrow! For today, I was able to use the Client Monitor (under Tools->Client Monitor) First, I recorded my activity with the Client Monitor I then filtered the Client Monitor's parameter field by table...

  • Re: Beginner's guide to NAV roles and security?

Hi Chickenmunga, security setup in Navision is hard. Take a look at this thread for some good advice. Our approach is typically take the standard NAV roles that match your requirements and then tweak them to correct security errors in testing. I have heard that the security tool mentioned in the thread...

  • Beginner's guide to NAV roles and security?

So I've been tasked with the chore of applying security roles to our company's NAV deployment. I've decided I need 10 different roles, but none of the existing roles seem all that helpful. For example, I've tried creating a role for our purchasing manager: he needs to create purchases...

  • Security Issue

We are in the process of implementing Axapta 3.0 and have found a major security flaw in the Axapta Portal due to which we cannot implement right now. If I login to the portal with my user name and password, I see all my personal details as well as salary information. However, the url in the address...

  • Alerts and security settings

I'm trying to get Alerts going for my users. The problem I've got is that the "View alerts" is not available to users (either via the view menu or the alarm bell icon). If people are set up as administrators then this is all visibile so it's probably something to do with the security...

  • Form security

How do I take away the 'right click' functionality on a form or screen. Right now, anyone can right click on the forms and add/remove buttons or fields in the Setup feature. Is there a way to remove this functionality for some users through security?

  • password for the DYNSA user.

Hi, We are new to GP and just evaluating it. We installed SQL 2005 and then GP 10 on a laptop. When trying to go to Utilities, it gives 'sa' as the user and prompts for the password. Help says it is the DYNSA password. Which one is that? Thanks, Ed
