All,

New to the comunity and AX hello to all. I am writing this post due to issues I have been experiencing with AX 2009 client.

This post is about Dynamics AX 2009 not working properly and from the tests ive done it would seem to be on 32bit OS mainly.

Over the past week I have tried installing AX 2009 client on 4 seperate workstations including 1 cleanly built workstation.

All of the installations rollback, I tried installing AX 2009 client on 1 single 64 bit machine just as a test as I noticed all the failed installls are either Win7 or Win XP 32BIT.

Works perfect on 64bit machine.

I have read the MSI error logs on the failed installations, failing with error 1603 not much else, referencing a missing dll in the componenets log too.

I have read alot about this as I am big on research which is why I am posting this, lots and lots of problems with Ax2009 and on paricular 32bit machines.

Lots of people blaming .net 4.0 and other versions of .net, I have found some resources claiming it is conflicting registry entrys. And I fixed one of my own failed installs by ONLY REMPERMISSIONING THE C DRIVE WITH THE ADDITION OF SYSTEM ACCOUNT and pushing full control down to all child objects.

It seems to me that something is up here and I am considering rolling out Windows 7 64bit over Windows 7 32 bit before we finish our Migration of AX.

We are in UAT presently.

Anyone shed any light on this? I have seen all the threads on .net etc. also a KB on it just njot installing properly on 32bit OS at all.

what do you do if it wont install with .net framework 3.5 only.

Dont mean to bore guys.

Hi Mark,

Welcome to DUG Smile

I have not come across any issue with installing AX 2009 in 32-bit machine. What error message do you get?

Also do you have the latest kernel build for AX 2009?

Hi Haresh,

Thanks for coming back to me on this. 3 forums and your the only person to respond.

Installation is just rolling back when it is about to complete. I cannot find the reason why after routing through the MSI logs.

Puzzling. Tried all the recomended .net fixes but no joy.

I cant paste the installer log file as its 6MB

not sure what you mean by latest kernel build.

Put it this way , the same client from the same installation file installs fine on all 64bit machines and it is not solely 32bit media. it should be able to install 32 and 64bit clients of AX.

The main errors I see in the components setup log for AX are this.

file not found Microsoft.Dynamics.Framework.Expression.AxExpressionBuilder.resources.dll

and it fails with a 1603 msi error.

I am still researchign this though......

Hi Mark,

Without detailed error messages, there is not much to go on here.

But the error code 1603 rings a distant bell.  Usually this is related to access denied error while writing to registry keys.  Is there any firewall on these machines? Are you installing BC with 'runas' administrator?
