Hi everyone

I have tried to upgrade some 5.01 classic reports up to 2009 (R2) RTC reports.

Microsoft states that if no report definition file is found for the .NET report viewer, the classic report will be executed. Thus, one would expect that if you delete the Layout from a standard report (/Tools/Delete Layout), you would expect the classic report to get executed. However I get this:

The server "net tcp://,...bla bla" is either unavailable or your connection has been  lost. Do you want to attempt to reconnect.

And the connection is lost!

This is not the worst though; My actual goal is to upgrade a simple custom report. However, if I try to "Create Layout Suggestion", and of cause save the .RDLC with visual studio, import the new .RDLC into the report object as proposed by NAV and compile the object. I also get the same message....connection lost.

If I open a layout from a standard report and open it in visual studion, and edit it. I mean just moving a textbox a tiny bit to the side, and then save the file and so on. I get the same message!?

It seems the reference to the definition file in the report object is corrupted somehow, or not updated properly. I succeded a couple of times to run the report in the RTC after I just made some changes to the request page,  save and then delete those changes again. This seems to have worked a few times, but not at all consistently.

Does anyone have a clue as to whats going on?

Thanks

/Jens

For running the classic report with RTC you should have classic client also installed on machine.

Whenever you are doing any changes in RTC report or pages you need to restart RTC client everytime.
