I am running NAV 2009 SP1 and running through Citrix....

We have been experiencing printing issues off and on for a few days.   The issue only shows up when the users  close the job traveler and NAV automatically prints out a “Job Cost Transaction Detail”.  After the user has closed the job they can go back into the Job cost transaction detail and print with no errors.  This problem seems to be specific to printing automation process handled within NAV.  When the user closes a job and auto prints the job cost transaction detail an error pops up saying "before you can perform printer related tasks you need to install a printer"  What handles the auto printing in NAV.

Thanks

Hello

You should check that you actually have a printer installed AND if you do you must have one of your printers marked as the Default Printer in windows.

Second issue could be that the report you are using is having a default printer added to it for all users. If you do not have this printer installed then you would get the same kind of error.

These two issues are quite common when running Dynamics NAV in an Citrix environment. If you are an enduser your Dynamics Contact should have no problem in solving this issue for you.

Thanks for the reply,

Default printer is installed and marked as default printer.  Its almost like citrix does not map the printer when the report is generated auto-magicly, Since the end user is able to go back into the report and print with no problems.  The report does not print (and the "no printer error" shows up ) when the user closes out a job (custom module and i have contacted my partner ..still waiting on a reply) and when the user closes out a job the report will auto print.

I guess, I am trying to narrow it down to a NAV or Citrix issue.
