Hi All"Performance Analyzer 1.15 for Microsoft Dynamics"I found this tool sometime ago but wondered if anyone here is or has used it. If you have any experience could you share this with me. It seems to be used for AX analysis but as NAV is included does anyone use this for Performance monitoring with NAV?Thanks!
Tim,
We use it for NAV performance tuning all the time. It pulls historical information from the DMV's and is very beneficial for finding the longest running queries, indexing issues, and has builtin automation to create a log for deadlocks; blocking; performance stats all by using SQL Jobs. AX has some additional scripts to run to install it, but NAV and GP do not. The documentation does a very good job of explaining the tool so just running it against your Test database and looking around and following the documenation is the best way to learn the tool, there is a lot too it. After you mess around with it a while, you will start to find you use the same things over a lot, and don't use some others, it really depends on what you are looking to get out of it. I find the query tuning section the most useful. You do not have to use the built in SQL Jobs as they are for automated capture of data, you can also manually run the execution to create the information for one time uses. The tool does create a separate database with all the information so that you do not clutter up your NAV database. It would be a lot to explain here, but it is a very useful tool, and one we use all the time when we are asked to engage in performance tuning for customers.

Hi Nick
Thanks for your reply. It looked really useful but I couldn't work out if the NAV part was in progress.
I'll investigate it further.
Thanks
Tim
Hi Tim ,
You should also check the SQL SErver profiler, that also gives lots of information for tuning as well as the client monitor.
