I have this copy of my old Navision 3.60 / SQL Server 2000 database from my old company BMI Partners, which I really want to pull out some data (customers/contacts and some reports).

I have attached the database again to my SQL Server 2005 server.

But now comes the tricky question. I remember my user name (can also look it up in the User table - so a database user not an ad/windows user). But I don't remember my old password.

I have created a new SQL user with the same name.

But I can not log into the system.

Best regards,
Erik P. Ernst

Erik,

"New" user is not the same, as name doesn't mean anything - like in Windows, SID is used, and recreating user with the same name creates different SID.

If you can access User table with SQL tools- try to delete ALL records from it - thus removing login control, as in CRONUS...

When I do this, I prefer just to create a new user. Just go to an existing NAV database on the same machine with windows log ins, there you can copy the SID and paste it into the old database. Then copy the SUPER group. That way you keep all the old setup.

I guess it depends if you need the other stuff or not. Problem with deleting the data is inconsistencies with the User Setup table.
