It seams like Microsoft have come to reason. With the delay of version 5.1 it would have been a very long wait for the countries in Asia where NAV 5.0 was not planned to be releases.

This is a wise decision to extend NAV 5.0 to other countries. I only regret that it hasn’t sooner. Many of bugfixes in Portuguese localization are marked in Partnersource that it will include in NAV 5.0, but there hasn’t a NAV 5.0. Now I found out.

Odd?

Well in my opinion then the Indian localization is one of the worst programmed local versions. Just take a look at the rate of which they send out hotfixes! So whereas they have actually done most of the work already for the other Asia versions, they are all based on the AP (Asian Pacific) version, same version as the Australia and New Zealand versions is based on. And both the AU and NZ versions has been released for version 5.0.

Yes I agree, someone needs to find the developers that did that localization and shoot them Angry

Maybe they are planning to start from scratch and thats the reason for not including in this release.

That would make good sense. But I actually wouldn't shoot the developers, but the analyst who told them how to do it!

We have actually had a specialist analyze the requirements in India (based on our current implementation there) and found that we can solve all the requirements in India for both VAT, Sales Tax and eCess with a minimum of changes to the US Sales Tax module. TDS (Indian withholding tax) can not be solved by the Withholding Tax module of the Asia-Pacific version of NAV (which is good for Thailand - but really cannot be used in other countries - sorry Walther). Instead we are creating a new WHT/TDS module can be created basically by copying the US Sales Tax module and do a few changes (estimated 150 hours). With then the US Sales Tax, the International VAT and the new WHT module based on the US Sales Tax, then we actually think that we will be able to implement with a minimum of changes in most countries in the world (at least when we talk WHT, VAT and Sales Tax).

Erik P. Ernst

Too late! Judging by the latest hotfix released for the italian version, they definitedly have moved to Italy! Angry

...today MS announced that 5.1 will be released in Q4 2008. And it will be called 6.0.

A 5.0-Service Pack will be released in Q1 2008.
