Hi all Just tried to setup NAV 5.0W1 on my WinXP pro. I selected Install/Microsoft Dynamics NAV Demo version/Custom and changed default folder's name to new. After installation I found, that executable and related client files of some older Navision versions are deleted: 3.10A, 3.60, 3.70, 4.0. But installations in folders "Client" of versions 1.30, 2.60, 4.0 SP1, 4.0 SP2, 4.0 SP3 left unchanged. Regards J.

What option did you select when installing?

I've installed 5.0 at a number of workstations without this problem.

If you asking about features: just only "Backup of Demo Database" wasn't selected in "Custom Setup window". J.

Did you get an message boxing saying older versions of Navision are already installed?

I've got mine running on a Virtual PC, so not got the issue. Maybe thats a way forward for you if we can't help resolve this.

There must be more to it that just this. I have done it this way with no problems. Can you think in detail all the steps you did?

I think the install program normally only do this when you select the upgrade option. But I actually haven't tried the NAV 5.0 installation. I will report back when I have tried it.

Hello All. >Did you get an message boxing saying older versions of Navision are already installed? I didn't. >I think the install program normally only do this when you select the upgrade option. I thought too. But in first time we have only options to select Minimum, Complete or Custom type of installation. And only second time while launching setup Microsoft Installer also can be used for change, repair or remove old installation. >Can you think in detail all the steps you did? I'm not sure already, sorry, but I'll try... Downloaded NAV50W1.exe. Unpacked it to local folder. Launched autorun.hta. Selected Install/Microsoft Dynamics NAV Demo version. Selected Custom. Changed default folder's name to new "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Dynamics NAV 5.0\CSIDE Client" It seems now that the first thing it started installing was .NET Framework. This step took too long, so I didn’t watch all time to its screen. But a few times I clicked to task in the window's task bar. May be I influenced the installation at this point - I'm not sure. Just remember that it was a little bit strange thing: One Installer's window had available buttons Next/Cancel while other window still copied the files. So I think now: if these buttons grabbed my attention and I remember that then may be I clicked some of them. Don't know now. But the installation proceeded successfully. The first thing I saw on the desktop - changed icons of my old .fob files :) I could open NAV 5.0 after that. And later I found dummied shortcuts to most of my old Navision exe and deleted files from Clients' folders. What I think now: it's true that my clients were "installed" in different ways. Some of them were just copied from folder to folder. It seems that NAV5.0 installer tried to delete installation if its info presented in registers. Some time later I'll try to watch this process on my other PC. Best regards. J.

this is interesting.. I say that because the same happened to me today (V5 SP1 - GB)  - clicking "Custom"  for the install method and selecting a completely different install folder etc..

It's not happened to me before, I must have 3 different versions of Nav installed on this laptop..and I'm more sure than not that I did nothing untoward or out of the ordinary in this install instance.
