Consider the following (partially) parallel routing for item MASTER :

Operation | Prev. Op | Next Op. | Work Center

----50----|---40-----|---70-----|----200----

At 100/110 a intermediate product is formed SLAVE, with production bom header "Slave" :

BOM Header Code : "Slave"
BOM Header Lines :
Item ------- A ------ 1 ---PCS
Item ------- B ---1 ---PCS

At 200/210 the final product is formed MASTER, with production bom header "Master" :

BOM Header Code : "Master"
Item ------- C ------ 1 ---PCS
Prod. Bom -Slave ------ 1 ---PCS (phantom Bom)

Additional information :
- A and B are consumed at 100
- C and SLAVE are consumed at 200
(Routing link codes are not (yet) set up.

A production order looks like this :
Prod Order Line : Master
Prod Order Component Lines : C, A, B
Prod Order Routing Lines : Routing as described abovee

So there is 1 and only 1 production order.

Objectives :
- Step 1 : backflush A & B, and manually post the output of step 100/110.
- Step 2 : backflush C & SLAVE, and manually post the output of 200/210

Step 1 and 2 are 2 distinct posting steps.

How ?
- Do I set all materials A, B, C and SLAVE to backflush ?
- Do I set all work centers flushing to manual ?
- Do I set up routing link codes, to link the consumption of A, B to 100, 110 ?
- Do I set up routing link codes, to link the consumption of C, Slave to 200, 210 ?

But will this still allow me to process my production order in 2 distinct posting steps (step 1 and step 2) ?

Hi Gunther

Could you explain to me the purpose of the SLAVE item in your two stage flushing. The SLAVE is set as a phantom BOM that usually describes a transitional item, which indeed seems to be the case of the routing, however your consumption shows the components downdated at one stage, the SLAVE at the next. Can you explain the need to downdate Item's A and B at 100 and again at 200 (as that is what the SLAVE really is).

I suppose my question is why not downdate A and B at 200 and ignore the Production BOM as you cannot use routing link codes with them.

This solution is tailored for your primary concern of processing the order in two distinct steps. I have given no thought to the costing implications of my solution [:D]. I will leave this up to you to investigate further.

Production BOM - "MASTER"

30...10..............40.......WC....110........400
40...20|30........50|60....WC....JOIN
50...40..............70.......WC....200
60...40..............70.......WC....210........500

Item and Work Centre Settings.
All of the work centres are set to manual flushing
All of the items: A, B, C, SLAVE and MASTER are set to backward flush.
Naturally you can set this up how you want to.

Once an output journal is recorded for operation 60 at WC 110 items A and B will be backflushed automatically. SLAVE will be put into stock.

Q2 - YES
Q3 - WELL I SET THEM UP TO OP 110 - YOU CAN RECONFIGURE THIS IF IT IS STAGGERED, ALTHOUGH AS A AND B MAKE SLAVE I WOULD ADVISE THIS IS DONE LOGICALLY AT THE SAME OP.
Q4 - AGAIN AS Q3.
