Hello everybody Today I am happy that I have managed to finish new version of the Uni WPF addin. Now you are able to catch events of the controls inside NAV and dynamically change properties of the controls. The demo object I have made is creating simple calculator inside the addin (calculator is not fully working, you can just type numbers and clear them), but it is not hard to extend it to fully functional because you need only modify code inside NAV. Usage: This addin is now ready to be used e...
In order to drive awareness of the recent launch of Visual Studio 2010, Microsoft has given me 2 x Not for Resale (NFR) Visual Studio 2010 Ultimate with MSDN subscription cards to give away . Take a look on the Visual Studio Product Site and you’ll see that to buy one of these subscriptions will set you back a lot of money—but I’m giving them away for free! What do you need to do? As you know, Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2009 SP1 introduced a new feature called Control Add-ins. These are .NET controls...
Last month a new book on Microsoft Dynamics NAV was published by Packt Publication written by Mark Brummel. I like his contributions (blogs & replies on Mibuso & DUG). Today I have got a copy of his book and started reading it. Besides the other topics, this book covers Jobs module also in detail with some customisations and enhancement. PS: The book is not limited to Jobs module, it covers a lot. Thanks to Packt Publication for publishing books on NAV, as earlier there was not enough study...
Last week Microsoft announced the new Microsoft Partner Network at their Partner World Conference in the US. As Waldo wrote in his blog post , then one of the changes is that Microsoft now requires more people and more certifications from their partners, if they want to continue to be the “best of line” partners, what they used to call “Gold Partners”. But there are other changes than new requirements toward certifications and number of people. In the material sent out by Microsoft they state these...
It's time for a "heads-up" for all partners among us. Microsoft is changing the certification for partners. If you're a certified partner, you probably are "Microsoft Certified" or "Microsoft Gold Certified". In fact, there is a bigger chance you're "Microsoft Gold Certified" as 70% from all certified partners, are GOLD. Well, starting from from October, this certification is going to change . In the future (as of October 2010) we (as NAV partners...
I recently got the test credentials for the Saasplaza RTC testdrive that i have blogged about earlier (App-V streaming of Dynamics NAV) and decided today to give it a quick spin. Along with the install there is a great installation guide for the software that provides very easy to follow step by step installation for [...]
Today I hade short time to play with the addins in NAV. I created small addin which I want to share with you. It allows you to add any WPF component to the NAV page dynamically directly from NAV by just passing correct XML including XAML describing the WPF components. What you need: The addin dll file XML passed to the addin through text or bigtext in correct time with correct values (each change of the value is reflected in the addin) Example of XML passed to the addin <Root> <Element>...
Microsoft just released the latest version of the object permission spreadsheet. Compared to what i have seen before i think this is a brand new edition with more features in it.
“The purpose of this report is to provide information on what ojbects are included within the modules for Microsoft Dynamics NAV” as follows: Search for individual [...]
Ever since, what in retrospect became, the final album of The Police , the concept of synchronicity has taken root in my every day conscious. Not something that is leading my 'way of doing' or whatsoever, but as some pair of glasses through which I observe life with amazement every now and then. Scene 1 Yesterday evening. Two fellow NAV veterans. Me. On my terrace. Table and chairs. Coffee and apple pie. Hot water and autographed book. Discussion (among others) on NAV community. How some...
Doing support on NAV 2009 RTC is a challenge. First of all, you've got the challenge of the customization-part (everyone can customize their pages to their own needs) .. and second, you've got the challenge of supporting the different roles: when someone from the warehouse has got a problem, you want to investigate that problem "in his role". The second issue, I would like to address today in this blogpost. In a way, we need to be able to select a role in a flexible way . First...

Microsoft Office Integration from Dynamics NAV uses stylesheets to transfer data to Excel and Word. If you are on a v5 database or higher this is standard functionality. If you have upgraded your executables, you will notice the new buttons in the toolbar, but nothing happens when you click them. In order to get them [...]
Finally a new update of the Platform updates.. . I must say, they make it complicated. In the old days, I was using the knowledge base RSS feeds as my only resource, but now, I use the "released platform hotfixes"-page on partnersource as well .. and I have to, because they seem to be publishing just a fraction of the updates on the knowledge base. On top of that .. they really make a mess of it (sorry to say, but they are...). Build numbers are mixed up, re-using buildnumbers and such...
This morning I received an update mail from Microsoft support on a technical incident that felt I had logged ages ago. To be honest: it's 3 months old, reported on April 13th of this year. A good old colleague is the Escalation Engineer (EE) on this, and as he handed off the issue to the Sustained Engineering (SE) team, he updates me on a regular basis. It's nice to have still these kind of interactions. Well alright, as the bug has been sitting their for such a long period I dutifully browsed...
