*** UPDATE *** Seems that Data Emphasis IS conditional. I updated the end of this article. Just scroll down… . A big issue since the release of NAV 2009 is the 'lack' of colors. There was no possibility whatsoever regarding " coloring your fields on pages ". Now, since NAV 2009 Service Pack 1, Microsoft introduces " Data Emphasis " as an enhancement. Let's try to find out what this is about and if it's really an enhancement (there is still no manual for...
Important: This article was updated in a new blogpost. I suggest you read the new version of it here . A big issue since the release of NAV 2009 is the 'lack' of colors. There was no possibility whatsoever regarding " coloring your fields on pages ". Now, since NAV 2009 Service Pack 1, Microsoft introduces " Data Emphasis " as an enhancement. Let's try to find out what this is about and if it's really an enhancement (there is still no manual for this … so...
Recently (read: today) I contacted Microsoft for a list of shortcuts in Sp1. Apparently it was already in the help-file of NAV 2009 SP1 CTP2, so you can imagine how embarrassed I was by asking this question. On the other hand … this is the easiest blog post ever for me. Enjoy the list: RoleTailored Classic Action RIGHT ARROW RIGHT ARROW Move to the next field or character LEFT ARROW LEFT ARROW Move to the previous field or character UP ARROW UP ARROW Move to the field above in the same column...
Finally, it's time for all you partners to stop reading the "bla bla" and start doing the "boom boom". The Download of SP1 Marketing Beta VPC is available on Partnersource and you can download it here . I would like to encourage you to download this VPC to get familiar with the new features or NAV 2009 as such. It's great for "readiness" and "awareness" to your consultants.
Hereby a new update of the platform updates… . Nothing much exciting, just a few new updates for 5.0, 5.0 Sp1 and 4.0 Sp3. I also added the links to NAV 2009 SP1 CTP1 and CTP2, although these are only available for early adopters and MVP's. Version Update Build No. KB number Info NAV2009 27808 RTM Update 0.1 27980 960268 Decimal seperator on the numerical keyboard does not work Update 0.2 28177 961772 In the RTC it is not possible to filter on the "Blank" option in a Option typed...
If you're familiar with the default TIF tool that comes out-of-the box from Microsoft, and you've been working with it quite some time .. you definitely started to wonder how you can make things faster or easier … how you can automate some "actions", like exporting and importing objects. Exactly this we (at my office ) were investigating on how we could automate this. A while ago, we were looking for a good solution for "making the TIF Tool a little bit more easy"...
Yesterday, I attended the first Mibuso conference. I say "first", because I hope there will be many to follow. I was quite surprised how one man could organize such an event by his own… . Which man: this one. Luc Van Dyck: Sorry, Luc, for the bad picture. Blame my iPhone ;°). Now, I must say, I had the impression that Kriki had something to do with it as well ;°). Hm. Let's see if I can find an iPhone-picture of Alain as well: (did I already mention I got an iPhone? …...
The new Statement Of Direction has appeared, and what a show! There is a roadmap until 2017 with features, goals and new stuff that will be added in the next 4 (four, vier, quattre, …) releases… . Well, Microsoft, pardon me to be a little bit sarcastic about this … but being able to deliver a roadmap until 2017, but not being able to deliver a release date for Belgium or any other country in Group 2 (even 5 months after group 1 release) … it makes me wonder. Anyway, I...
Here is a new update of the platform update list. Microsoft is not making it easy on my. They are providing hotfixes for 5.0 and 5.0 Sp1, but do not specify this in full detail on the KB article… . Anyway, the list below should be correct. Furthermore, as you coul read here , they are changing the download procedure for a hotfix. Here is an example: You know you need fix for KB article 961430 - The filter values are not populated automatically into the page fields as expected in the Microsoft...
I notice that (at least in Belgium) it's still quite a "hot topic" on how to handle NAV 2009 Forms and pages . Should we develop pages? Or should we develop forms, transform them and start from there? Or should we maintain a 100% form transformation to pages and never touch the page designer? Well, my comments on this: it depends. It all comes down to the context. It all comes down to the customer's needs, the support you want to give … and your knowledge (probably the most...
Well, this has been a weird convention for me. I have been doing a lot and nothing at the same time. I was trying to combine some days of rest with a convention where I was exhibitioner and where I had to do a session as well. A lot to do, in a time you don't want to do quite much ;°). Directions The accommodation was just perfect. Very nice hotel ( Hesperia Tower in Barcelona ). Nice and trendy … and may be a little bit too much of a holiday-feeling ;°). The organization was good...
That's it again. Convergence 2009 in New Orleans is over. Just below 7000 people have been heading home for the last two days … I stayed one extra day, so it feels like I'm the last one going home . I'm in the plane when I write this last piece of "diary" of this Convergence - although I will be at work again when I post it (yep … going straight to work after my plane ride - I love jetlags!). I hope it was somewhat useful for you. I know quite some people have...
Olga T. Mulvad is hosting this session. Being program manager of the Form Transformation tool (quite an important tool in the upgrade process to the Role Tailored client) might be something to do with that. I know Olga personally, but this is one of the first times, that I'm attending one of her sessions. Form Transformation is exceptionally a technical related responsibility for her… and that might be the reason as well ;°). Anyway … go Olga!! :-). Before the session, I see...
Mauro Marinilli and Tom Loyal will be covering some topics about "End User productivity" and "System Administration". Lots of tips, lots of tricks to expect. First the End User Productivity -part in NAV 2009 (could be the upcoming SP1 - Mauro was showing this in his Sp1, so I don't know for sure …). First thing is Handling Focus : To move between Area's, the magic key is F6 . You switch from action pane to navigation pane, to task panes, to fact boxes, …...
As a personal interest, I attended this session about Microsoft Dynamics NAV CRM. As you know, already quite a lot is possible with the CRM functionality that comes right out-of-the-box with Dynamics NAV, although we notice that many times, people just think that "it's not Microsoft CRM, so it's no good". If you just give it a chance, and see which area's this granule covers, you'd be surprised. Eva Sachse, Senior Product Manager (I suppose for CRM) is hosting this session...
