Introductory Post

This is my first post - I will try to crosspost for some time - posting the same articles here and at my original blog at

www.kashperuk.blogspot.com

Hope I will be able to help some of you by posting useful code and information.

This blog will contain information on programming for the most part.

Well I am downloading AX 4 right now, and plan to stat playing.

If you want a topic for a first post here, how about a simple step by step of How to install Axapta on a local machine. i.e. I just want to install SQL on this local machine and ruin everything here without seperate servers. I guiss a laptop type install.

thanks.

Hey, David.
You can start by reading this:

http://www.axaptapedia.com/Dynamics_Ax_4.0_installation

Don't have an opportunity to write an article like this at the moment.

Thanks for that. So basically its a lot like CRM, in that you can run it on a Laptop, but you need the server setup to really do anything.

Or I guess a VM.

Yes, that's exactly how I am working with it so far - I have a 6 Gb file for the VMware (Virtual Machine software) - and in it is a W2003 + SQL2005 + DAX4.0 AOS and Client all installed and ready to roll. ;)

It's much easier this way, because I can use it on my laptop and I am not dependent on a connection to the server.

Hey, Bal.

What exactly do you want to accomplish?

Upload files - what sort of files, where to upload them? Into tables, import xpo files?

And why do you want to do it from C#?

A general answer:

Basically, you have 2 options here:

- use command line arguments of Ax32.exe

- use .NET business connector.
